The School Day
Opening times
The gates open at 8.35 am every morning. The children in Year 2 to Year 6 walk in through the side entrance by the Library (without parents) and the children in Year 1 and Reception class enter the school gate by the kitchen (with parents).
The school day officially starts at 8.40 and if the children have started to enter the building between 8.35 and 8.40, then they will be ready to start the day promptly. If your child enters the school after 8.40 am, they will be marked in the register as late.
We, therefore, ask all parents to help their children develop the skill of good punctuality by arriving at the school between 8.35 and 8.40. There is no need to arrive any earlier than 8.35 but we do ask that you remain with your child/ren until a member of staff opens the gate at 8.35. The children are your responsibility until they enter the school building.
Lateness
At 9.10am, the registers will be closed. In accordance with the Regulations, if your child arrives after that time they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence. This may mean that you could face the possibility of a Penalty Notice if the problem persists.
Morning Break
The children have a 15 minute break time each morning at 10.40 am.
Assemblies
There is an assembly every day for the whole school.
Monday | 9 - 9:20 |
Tuesday | 10.20 - 10:35 |
Wednesday | 1:10 - 1:30 |
Thursday | In class |
Friday | 2.20 - 2.50 |
Lunch time
The lunch break for KS1 and KS2 is between 12 and 1 pm. Reception children have lunch from 11:50 - 12:50pm.
Pick up
The day finishes at 3:10pm for all children.
At 3:05pm, the gates by the kitchen will be opened and the parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 can then collect their children from the classroom doors.
KS2 (Year 3 to Year 6) parents can walk round to the back playground to pick their child/ren up from the classroom door.
Polite notices
We politely ask that children do not use scooters or bikes whilst on the school premises as these cause accidents due to the huge numbers of people entering and exiting the school premises at the start and end of the day.
Children are also not allowed to use the Gym Trail equipment at the start and end of the day. We rely on parents to tell their children to come off the equipment if they go on it.
We also ask that no animals come onto the school site at any time.
